Index to Bulletins, First Series, 1963 - 1974
Compiled by Alan L. Jeffreys
The first issue of the G.S.G. Bulletin was published in June 1963. Issues of Volume 1 appeared at two-monthly intervals. Thereafter, the frequency was curtailed to two each year. Volume 1 No.4 was the first to be duplicated by the Roneo process. Conversion to metric sized paper commenced with Volume 5 No.1. A coloured cover code, each colour standing for a specific issue number, was commenced with Volume 4 No.4. This code is: No.1 white; No.2 pink; No.3 green; No.4 yellow; No.5 blue.
In the present index, no reference to any individual G.S.G. member, past or present, has been included, and all matters of a purely internal or domestic nature have also been omitted. Not a great deal of cross-referencing has been done, so readers are advised to look for specific subjects under several headings. In Part 2, an author's name in square brackets indicates text not attributed to the writer in the publication. The method of quoting entries is as follows:
Mhor, Uamh. 3(3)26, in which the first digit represents the volume number, the bracketted number the issue, and finally the appropriate page. Hence: Volume 3 No.3, page 26.
The index is in three parts: 1. List of Contents; 2. Author Index; 3. General Index.

Index to Bulletins, Second Series, 1974 - 1988
Compiled by Alan L. Jeffreys
This is the second general index issued by the Group* and marks the completion of the Second Series. A total of fifty Bulletins have now been published over a period of a quarter of a century, maintaining, where-ever practicable, a regular two issues per year.
No major format changes to the magazine have been made since the conversion to A4 in 1972 and the volume cover colour coding has been continued. This is: No.1 white; No.2 pink; No.3 green; No.4 gold (or yellow); No. 5 blue. One exception to this was Vol.3 No.5 (1982) which, being the 21st anniversary number, was white and gold.
Vol.3 No.1 (1980) marked a major administrative change when editorship was relinquished by Alan Jeffreys and taken up by Peter Dowswell and Ivan Young. For that issue only, offset litho was used for printing, but the club then purchased an electric Roneo machine, and all subsequent issues have been produced on it.
Covers for Volumes 2 and 4 have followed themes. Volume 2 consisted of parodies of famous illustrations from literature, and Volume 4 carried reproductions of cave and mining woodcuts from the 19th Century.
Editorship reverted to Alan Jeffreys from Volume 5 No.3 (1987). In the present index, no reference to any individual G.S.G. member, past or present, has been included, and all matters of a purely internal or domestic nature have also been omitted. Not a great deal of cross-referencing has been done, so readers are advised to look for specific subjects under different headings relevant to that subject. Cave names are catalogued under true name, with suffixes such as Pol, Uamh, Gouffre etc. Following. Names are listed textually, so entries may be found under both Gaelic and English renditions. The method of quoting entries Is as follows:
Sonora, Caverns of 2(5)13, in which the first digit represents the volume number, the bracketted figure the issue, and finally the appropriate page. All entries refer to Second Series only. Illustrations and survey entries are underlined.
The index is in three parts. 1. List of contents. 2. Author index. 3. General index. In section 2, brackets indicate unsigned work by the particular author.

* The first came out as a supplement to 1st Series Vol.5 No.5, April 1974, the second as a supplement to 2nd Series Vol.5 No.5, October, 1988.
No major format changes to the magazine have been made since the conversion to A4 in 1972, except that with Vol.3 No.3 (March 1995) use of folded A3 sheets was introduced. Typesetting changed to computer print with Vol.1 No.5. The volume cover colour coding has been continued. This is: No.1 white; No.2 pink; No.3 green; No.4 gold (or yellow); No.5 blue. With Vol. 5 No.3 (March 2000), the use of colour centrefold photographs commenced. All issues of this series have been produced under the editorship of Alan Jeffreys.
Cover designs for the various volumes have attempted to follow themes.
In the present index, no reference to any individual G.S.G. member, past or present, has been included, and all matters of a purely internal or domestic nature have also been omitted. Not a great deal of cross-referencing has been done, so readers are advised to look for specific subjects under different headings relevant to that subject. Articles bearing frequent references to a particular word are generally quoted for the first page only to save space. Cave names are catalogued under true name, with suffixes such as Pol, Uamh, Gouffre etc., following. Names are listed textually, so entries may be found under both Gaelic and English renditions.
