The NEODAAS archive held at Dundee Satellite Receiving Station has traditionally been used for data received from AVHRR and MODIS sensors; however it also contains a data from a large number of additional instruments which are also in the direct broadcast signals received at the station. These instruments are predominately used for atmospheric sciences and could be made available to the NERC community if required. Below is a list of instruments held, but currently unavailable and a brief description of what it does.
- AIRS - Atmospheric Infrared Sounder : an advanced sounder containing 2378 infrared channels and four visible/near-infrared channels, aimed at obtaining highly accurate temperature profiles within the atmosphere plus a variety of additional Earth/atmosphere products. (AQUA Platform)
- AMSR - Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer : A twelve-channel, six-frequency, total power passive-microwave radiometer system. It measures brightness temperatures at 6.925, 10.65, 18.7, 23.8, 36.5, and 89.0 GHz. Vertically and horizontally polarized measurements are taken at all channels. (AQUA Platform)
- AMSU - Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit : 15-channel microwave sounder designed primarily to obtain temperature profiles in the upper atmosphere (especially the stratosphere) and to provide a cloud-filtering capability for tropospheric temperature observations. (NOAA Platform)
- ASCAT - Advanced Scatterometer : windspeed and direction over the oceans. (METOP Platform)
- CERES - Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System : A 3-channel radiometer measuring reflected solar radiation in the 0.3-5 µm wavelength band, emitted terrestrial radiation in the 8-12 µm band, and total radiation from 0.3 µm to beyond 100 µm. (AQUA Platform)
- GOME - Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment 2: ozone measurements. (METOP Platform)
- GRAS - GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Receiver for Atmospheric Sounding : provides a minimum of 500 stratospheric and tropospheric temperature and humidity profiles per day by a process of GPS radio occultation, as well as the ionosphere total electron content. (METOP Platform)
- HIRS - High Resolution Infrared Sounder : provides inputs for vertical temperature and humidity profiles.(NOAA Platform)
- HSB - Humidity Sounder for Brazil :a 4-channel microwave sounder provided by Brazil aimed at obtaining humidity profiles throughout the atmosphere. (AQUA Platform)
- IASI - Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer : atmospheric emission spectra to drive temperature and humidity profiles. (METOP Platform)
- MHS - Microwave Humidity Sounder :provides inputs to the retrieval of surface temperatures, emissivities, and atmospheric humidity. (NOAA Platform)
