The Met Office reported that at least 12 major storms affected the United Kingdom between mid-December 2013 and mid-February 2014. These storms brought strong winds, heavy rain and subsequent flooding to many areas including the Somerset Levels, Thames valley region and the Severn and Wye river courses. These images were received before and after these storms impacted on the UK and have been processed to highlight flooded areas by increasing the contrast between land which appears bright green and water which ranges from blue through to black.
