Smoke from wildfires in southern Portugal’s Algarve region drifts southwards over the North Atlantic Ocean. Saharan dust blown off north-west Africa disperses over the North Atlantic Ocean, the Canary and Madeira archipelagos, Morocco, Spain, the Bay of Biscay and France. Fog/low cloud hugs areas of Morocco’s Atlantic coast and a low pressure system is centred off north-west Spain. Thunderstorms can be seen over France, Morocco, mainland Spain and obscure the Balearic Island of Mallorca (Majorca).
