When this image was received the Perth Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre reported that Tropical Cyclone Kelvin was tracking in a south-easterly direction as it moved inland across the far west Kimberley/far east Pilbara regions of Western Australia. Kelvin was at this time a Category 2 storm (Australian tropical cyclone intensity scale) with a maximum 10-minute sustained average wind speed of 60 knots (69.1 mph) and a maximum 3-second wind gust of 85 knots (97.9 mph). Tropical Cyclone Gita tracks south-westwards over the Coral Sea with a 1-minute sustained average wind speed of 50 knots (57.6 mph) and gusts of 65 knots (74.9 mph) according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center.
