Algal blooms colour the water from the North Atlantic Ocean to the Baltic Sea. Areas of coastal sediment from river run-off are also evident. Coastal stratus hugs the coast of Iceland. Light cloud cover allows the islandís snow cover, glaciers and ice caps to be seen. Snow cover is also visible over Norway. Continental Europe is mostly cloud covered and a warm weather front moving in off the North Sea partially obscures the United Kingdom. Aircraft contrails are noticeable over the Gulf of Riga. Widespread thunderstorms, lee waves and cloud streets are also apparent throughout this image.
