When this image was received Hurricane Barbara was tracking in a north, north-easterly direction over the Gulf of Tehuantepec approaching the south-west coast of Mexico. Barbara was at this time a Category 1 storm (Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale) with a 1-minute sustained average wind speed of 65 knots (75 mph). The National Hurricane Center reported that Barbara made landfall on Mexico's south-west coast in the State of Chiapas at 1950 UTC.
